PHOTOSHOP WORKFLOW ESSENTIALS – ZSE6 Bonus 3 – f.64 Elite by Blake Rudis

THE ZONE SYSTEM EXPRESS 6

Lesson3 Workflow Analysis

I have spent the last ten years perfecting my photographic workflow.   One of the major innovations I made in this time was the development of the Zone System Express, an incredible tool that helps me maintain a consistent and predictable workflow.  It has been through 5 iterations so far and the 6th is going to revolutionize the way you edit your photos.

I can’t just leave you with a tool, while it is a powerhouse, it is nothing without the education to go along with it.  With the panel comes 8 hours of education that will teach you my workflow of Tone, Color, and Effects

Glow Brushes in ACR and Lightroom – f64 Academy | Blake Rudis

I have long been a fan of the Orton Effect.   So much so, that I built my variation of it for the Zone System Express called “Radiance 2.0”.  The glowing effect makes an amazing atmosphere for your photo, regardless of the genre, but I wanted it in some Glow Brushes too!

The other day I was experimenting with the Radiance 2.0, and I thought, “What I wouldn’t  give to have this kind of glow, but in a brush!”  Of course, your first thought is to just mask the effect in Photoshop, there’s a brush, right?

Sure, but I want even MORE control than that.

Met welk portfolio win je een fotowedstrijd? – Natuurfotografie

The Perspective Crop Tool in Photoshop – Video – f64 Academy

Perspective Correction has Never been so easy- The Perspective Crop Tool – Blake Rudis

With all interior architecture images, there is a need to fix the perspective as many perspective altering variables come into play.  What lens are you using, are you tilting your camera up or down to make it all fit, or is the camera slightly off center?  All of these things can throw off our interior architecture images, and each one will come with a different set of problems for fixing them.

There is a tool in Photoshop that just may save the day in many of the scenarios listed above.  The Perspective Crop tool is unique in that it fixes the perspective while cropping the image as the name so graciously implies ?  The Perspective Crop tool is, however, not the easiest thing to comprehend because a little bit of this and a little bit of that can really mess the photo up.  In today’s  tutorial I will give you some direction, but here are some best practices to consider

The Color Picker in Photoshop – f64 Academy

Let’s get to some basics, the color picker

Photoshop is such a massive program it can be very easy to get lost in all of its intricacies.  With so many features and bells and whistles, it is very easy for us to get used to one tool and know it very well. All the while we can very easily glance over the basic tools and often take them for granted, like the color picker.

I recently published a tutorial that showcased the difference blend mode.  During the tutorial, I spent quite a bit of time in the color picker within Photoshop.  After the tutorial was all said and done, I received an email asking me about the color picker and why theirs looked different.  After a look at a screenshot form them I could see that a different radio dial had been selected before my tutorial.  That clued me in that I have yet to discuss this intricate tool and cover all of the little facets of color selection.

At first glance, it looks like a tool to select a color.  However, there is a lot of useful information packed into all the ones and zeros there.  In this tutorial, I will break it down for you so you can make better color selections.

Saving Your Scene using Free Transform in Photoshop

Fix your scene with Free Transform

Saving Your Scene using Free Transform in Photoshop

I made my first trip to Scotland about a year and a half ago. On the first stop of the first day, I took a shot that I was sure was going to be epic. It turned out to be not so epic at all. I used a wide angle lens for something that really needed a longer focal length and the shot was far less than what I had hoped for. Free Transform to the rescue!

Photoshop allowed me to not only rescue the shot but to actually make it better than it would have been had I shot it “properly”. I was struck by the way the mountain in the shot dominated the scene and if I had used a different focal length the mountain would have certainly been big but the shot would have lost its impact because of the lack of context and scale. When I got home and saw the file I was disappointed but I also remembered what drove me to press the shutter button in the first place. That was the vision that I needed to recapture in post-processing…
